Baharat is to Middle Eastern cuisine as garam masala is to Indian food. Paprika, nutmeg, cumin, and cinnamon are ground into a fine powder and then used in recipes or sprinkled over finished dishes as a condiment.
HOW: Brush pita breads with olive oil and sprinkle with Baharat before heating. Sprinkle over veg before roasting. Put it in a little bowl on the table and use as you would salt. Good in soups and stews.
TOTALLY USELESS FACT: The word baharat means “spices” in Arabic. Now you know :-)
